Payment Terms

Fees are quoted at an hourly rate; lessons of less than one hour's duration are charged pro rata. Most lessons will be of 1/2 hour duration. Payment is due monthly in advance. Fees are subject to annual review.

Lessons Schedule

Unlike many teachers, I prefer to teach throughout the year, not just during school terms, except for my personal holidays. However, if a student prefers, I will honour the school term-only approach. Lessons schedules are therefore flexible and will be arranged with each monthly charging period. All holiday requirements must be notified to me at the start of the monthly charging period.

Missed Lessons and Lateness

All scheduled lessons for the month must be paid for, unless otherwise agreed. Any time missed due to lateness will be forfeit, unless otherwise agreed. If I am unavailable to give any scheduled lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled if possible; if not, the charge will be credited against the following month's account.

Termination of Contract

Any decision to discontinue lessons may be taken at any time by me or the student, in which case one month's notice will be given. If this notice period is not honoured, any fees paid for the month will be forfeit.

Examinations, Festivals and Competitions

The student must not enter any examination, festival or competition without my consent; I will likewise not enter a student for any examination, festival or competition without the student's (or parents') consent. All entry fees will be paid by the student.
I encourage entry for LCM examinations and competitive festivals, because I believe these act as focal points and objectives; however, I do not insist on these for students who require a less formal approach. I will be happy to discuss requirements regarding this aspect of my curriculum.

General

The student must have unrestricted access to a piano for practice purposes.
Parents will not be allowed in the teaching room during lessons, unless otherwise agreed.
As I am responsible for a student's well-being whilst in my care, I must be informed of any medical condition affecting the student.
